BUT IS IT COUNTRY?

The following information refers to previous Festival activities.
We will update this webpage when 2012 arrangements are confirmed

The Canberra Country Music Festival has a theme “Seriously Having A Good Time” and “But Is It Country?” takes it to another level. Read on and you will get a feel why this is a special event at the Festival.

The basics involve 2 teams of conservative, eccentric and obsessive country music personalities competing to be Country Music Gurus. Led on by a dynamic host, the show is a mix of multiple choice, name that tune, true and false and guesstimates. Held on the main stage, the session includes some guest performances and many unguarded moments amongst the celebrities as they compete “The Australians” versus “The Internationals”. If you enjoy television panel shows like “Rockwiz” you will love this live show!

Australia - Versus - "The World"

The Australians

  • Mark Shay – Wollongong-based country rock performer who sings "Keith Urban Stole My Girl"
  • Kel-Anne Brandt – Award winning pop-country legend based on the Central Coast
  • Tim Fry – pedal steel king and half of the Ballarat duo The Fry Brothers

    The World

  • Bobby Marquez – Texas swing star, hot after his Friday night headline performance
  • Aly Cook – New Zealand's leading international independent country music artist and social networking whiz
  • Sean Patrick McGraw – Nashville-based dubbed "The Springsteen of American Country Music"

So this is a live panel show not to be missed. And with audience participation at times encouraged you can be sure to have fun and many laughs. Here are the time and location details:

  • When: 9:30am Sunday 20 November 2011
