FEDERATION SONG AWARDS
In order to provide recognition and incentive to Australian musicians and composers the Australian Independent Music Association organises the annual Federation Songwriting Competition and related Federation Song Awards for Country Music. The Awards are presented at the Canberra Country Music Festival in November.

Judges for the 2010 Federation Songwriting Competition are from the media, events, recording and other music industry sectors. The Judges results are combined for a aggregated score ranking.
The Federation Songwriting Competition is primarily aimed at non-professional and unreleased songs – although not excluding such gifted songwriters.
Professional songwriters are defined as those who received A$500 or greater of their income from songwriting in any of the 3 years to 2010.
Commercial release applies to where the song has been offered for commercial use whether for sale or promotional purposes. Self funded albums are considered a commercial release in this competition.
International songwriter entries are welcome but only awarded in the International Award category and Sub-Genre categories
The Top 5 Finalists in each Award category will be publicly announced
